During a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s endorsement of a two-state solution to address the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Xi highlighted the importance of restarting peace negotiations and advocated for the swift establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He stressed the necessity of a comprehensive ceasefire, safeguarding civilians, continuous humanitarian aid, and a political resolution grounded in international law.
President Xi also underscored the principle that Palestinians should have autonomy in governing their own territories, specifically mentioning the governance of the West Bank and the rebuilding efforts in Gaza. The discussions between the two leaders centered on these diplomatic issues, reflecting China’s position on the matter.
Beyond the conflict, the dialogue also focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between China and Jordan. Xi and King Abdullah II expressed their commitment to broadening cooperation across various sectors, including trade, infrastructure, transportation, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and green energy. These discussions are part of a broader effort to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
Following the talks, both countries formalized their intentions to collaborate further by signing several cooperation agreements.
