The State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority of Oman participated in a significant meeting of Deputy Heads of GCC Audit and Accounting Institutions. This 27th session took place via videoconference, where various initiatives were discussed to enhance the region’s audit and accounting practices. One of the main topics on the agenda was the preparation for the 7th GCC Competition for Research and Studies in Auditing and Accounting. Additionally, the meeting explored a proposal to create an AI-powered platform intended to streamline and document the committee’s work and results.
Participants at the meeting also took the opportunity to revisit recommendations that emerged from previous research competitions. This review aimed to ensure that past insights and suggestions are effectively integrated into current and future practices. The discourse also included a forward-looking discussion on training programs scheduled for the years 2025 and 2026, emphasizing the importance of continuous professional development in the field of auditing and accounting.
Moreover, the officials laid out the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the GCC audit institution heads. This forthcoming meeting is poised to address broader strategies and collaborative efforts in the region’s auditing landscape. It will serve as a platform for high-level discussions aimed at fostering stronger cooperation among GCC member states in public auditing and financial oversight.
To further bolster regional collaboration, the meeting attendees also planned activities for the GCC Financial and Administrative Audit Week. This event is designed as a venue to enhance joint efforts and share best practices among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, thereby strengthening the overall framework of public auditing and financial management across the region.
